Season Eight Community Day is on the horizon! Set sail on Saturday, February 11 to celebrate the phenomenal Sea of Thieves community and share in a fine offering of treasures. There’ll be the traditional boosted rewards, free goodies and Twitch Drops, plus a whole range of discounts to enjoy, and as always we’re hoping to enjoy some amazing creativity and celebratory undertakings from our incredible players.
To kick things off, the Community Emissary Grade is back! To raise this cumulative Grade and unlock in-game boosts, all players need to do is tweet using #SeaOfThievesCommunityDay during the event and watch as the rewards start increasing. At Grade Five, everyone earns two-and-a-half times the regular amount of gold and reputation – and, this time, Seasonal Renown too – for handing in loot! There’s also a fixed boost to Faction Allegiance throughout the day, should you want to test your ship combat skills in the Battle for the Sea of Thieves…
Even just logging in will provide its own rewards, namely the wonderfully soothing pink-and-purple Season Eight Community Day Flag and a Scorecard Emote that will let you vote on your crew’s achievements or anything else as you see fit – both items free to players who set sail on Community Day.
Living the Stream
Beyond the in-game excitement on offer, fans have the option of watching any participating Sea of Thieves streamer during the day to earn Twitch Drops, unlocking the Celestial Steed Sails and Ebon Flintlock after an hour each. Anyone can offer Drops this time, just make sure you have Drops enabled in your Twitch account settings and Sea of Thieves selected as the game you’re streaming on the day! Or if you’re just viewing, make sure that your Sea of Thieves and Twitch accounts are linked before settling in to watch your favourite piratical content creators.
Beyond the in-game excitement on offer, stream viewers won’t be left out. Tuning in to any participating Sea of Thieves streamer for a couple of hours during the day will unlock the Celestial Steed Sails and Ebon Flintlock through Twitch Drops. Just make sure that your Sea of Thieves and Twitch accounts are linked up and settle in to watch your favourite piratical content creators.
If you’re not sure who to watch, you can always join us in the Tavern! Some familiar faces from the Rare crew will be streaming from 10am UTC, tackling Community Day challenges and generally enjoying the chaos. Not only will it count towards unlocking those Twitch Drops, you might catch a few special stream surprises…
Looking the Part
While we have your attention, Community Day seems like the perfect time to launch this Season’s Style of Thieves competition! We’ll be unveiling the theme list and submission dates on February 11, and not only is it an excuse to get dressed up, the sharpest styles will be in the running to win the fabulous Fashionista’s Finery Gloves.
To help you achieve that perfect look, the Pirate Emporium shopkeepers will be hosting a Delightful Discount Sale with a romantic slant from February 11–15. Fan favourites such as the Reaper’s Heart Pets and weapons are included, as well a range of suitably smitten emotes.
If you’re more interested in expanding your real-life wardrobe, Sea of Thieves ranges on the Rare merchandise store will offer a 30% discount with the COMMUNITYDAY code at checkout. This lasts for one day only – as does the commemorative Season Eight Community Day T-shirt and flag also available to buy during the event, so be quick!
There’s a lot on the schedule for Season Eight Community Day and we’re eager to see what you, the players, have lined up to dazzle us with in return, so mark your diaries for February 11 and we’ll see you on the seas…
